Iranian Embassy in Brussels Condemns EU Allegations of Tehran’s Involvement in Ukraine Conflict
WANA (Oct 26) – The Iranian Embassy in Brussels issued a statement condemning the accusations and claims made by an EU External Action Service representative and certain European Parliament members during an October 22, 2024, session.
The statement, a copy of which was provided to Iranian media, emphasized that Iran, a country that has itself been a victim of terrorism and actively combats groups like ISIS, firmly rejects accusations regarding alleged threats on European soil by Iranian entities.
The embassy reiterated, “We categorically dismiss the claim of missile transfers by Iran for use in the Ukraine conflict. Iran’s neutral stance on the Ukraine crisis is clear, and we continue to support diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes.”
Furthermore, the embassy called on European Parliament members to focus on addressing “the real and pressing threat posed by the actions and atrocities of Israel in Gaza, Lebanon, and the broader West Asia region.” It highlighted that these actions have severe consequences for civilians, human rights, and regional and international peace.
The statement urged EU member states to act responsibly and avoid measures that could worsen or complicate the longstanding relationship between Iran and Europe. It warned against falling prey to “Iranophobic campaigns” orchestrated by third-party actors, especially Israel, who aim to damage Iran-EU relations.
Since the onset of the Ukraine crisis, Iran has consistently refrained from taking sides in the military conflict, instead advocating for political dialogue and peaceful resolution. Iran’s principled position on the Ukraine issue remains unchanged, and claims of missile transfers to Russia are seen as politically motivated and unfounded.
