Iranian FM to IAEA Chief: You Must Act Within Your Mandated Duties
WANA (Jan 29) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held a phone conversation to discuss and exchange views.
During the call, they reviewed the latest status of technical cooperation and interactions between Iran and the IAEA.
Reiterating Iran’s commitment to continuing its cooperation with the agency within the framework of its international obligations, Araghchi emphasized the need to avoid politicization and unconstructive positions while fostering collaboration in a technical and forward-looking manner.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also stressed that the IAEA must operate strictly within its mandated duties and responsibilities, urging the Director General to resist unjustified requests and pressures from certain countries.
For his part, Grossi reaffirmed the agency’s determination to engage in serious cooperation with Iran, stating that the IAEA would conduct consultations with all parties within its authority to create a constructive atmosphere for resolving existing issues.
