WANA (Apr 25) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi will travel to Muscat on Friday evening, April 25, leading a high-level diplomatic and technical-expert delegation. The visit aims to facilitate indirect negotiations with the United States.

 

Esmaeil Baghaei, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated that both sides had agreed to hold a technical-expert meeting alongside the presence of senior negotiators from Iran and the U.S. He added: “According to the arrangements made by the Omani host and the mutual agreement between Iran and the United States, technical meetings and indirect talks between Iran’s foreign minister and the U.S. President’s special representative will take place on Saturday, April 26.”

 

Baghaei emphasized that progress in the negotiations depends on the other party demonstrating goodwill, seriousness, and realism. He stressed that the Iranian delegation, taking into account past experiences and the conduct of the other side, will adjust every step accordingly and will spare no effort to uphold the legitimate rights and interests of the Iranian people.

 

Majid Takht-Ravanchi, deputy foreign minister for political affairs, and Kazem Gharibabadi, deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, are leading Iran’s technical delegation in the expert-level indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States.

 

The second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States was held in Rome, Italy, on Saturday, April 19, mediated by Oman. The first round had taken place in Muscat on Saturday, April 12.
