WANA (July 21) – In a recent meeting, Alireza Bigdeli, the Deputy for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with the mother and family members of Mohammad Khazaei, an Iranian pilgrim detained in Saudi Arabia during this year’s Hajj. Khazaei, along with several other Iranians, was arrested while performing the pilgrimage.

The Khazaei family was reassured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the Islamic Republic’s representatives in Saudi Arabia, would persistently follow up until his release and return.

Iran’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, stated that senior officials have been actively engaged from the outset, negotiating and meeting with the Saudi ambassador and other Saudi officials to secure the release of the detained Iranian citizens.
