WANA (Apr 05) – In a speech at the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly, Hamidreza Hajibabaei, Vice President of Iran’s Parliament, stressed the importance of strengthening ties among Asian countries to address the violence caused by the Israeli regime in Palestine and Gaza.

Speaking at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) session, Hajibabaei said, “By reinforcing solidarity, we can take significant steps towards mutual interests and address shared concerns.”

He emphasized that the global situation demands a shift from violence to peaceful solutions, with regional powers asserting their influence in international matters. “Asia, with its rich history and unity, defends its dignity and global role,” he added.

Hajibabaei addressed key regional issues like the water crisis, migration, food security, poverty, and terrorism, urging Asian nations to work together for the welfare of their people.

On the situation in Gaza and Palestine, Hajibabaei condemned the ongoing territorial occupation by Israel, stating that the actions of the “criminal Zionist regime” continue to escalate tensions and instability in the region.

“This illegitimate regime, which thrives on insecurity, demonstrates that it cannot be expected to act responsibly or in accordance with international law,” he said. “We urge its supporters to fulfill their responsibilities and halt their support, enabling the cessation of its criminal activities.”

The lawmaker reiterated the importance of drawing global attention to Israeli war crimes and called for a unified and firm stance from all members of the APA in condemning Israel’s colonial policies. He urged nations to advocate for the legal and human rights of the Palestinian people, ensuring their freedom, dignity, and right to self-determination.

Hajibabaei stressed the importance of international responsibility in responding to the historical crisis, urging the global community to overcome its silence in the face of systemic genocide against Palestinians. He called for the protection of the Palestinian people from further atrocities, ensuring they would no longer face the threat of total genocide or ethnic cleansing.
