Iranian Official Condemns French Mayor’s Insult to Sacred Values
WANA (Jan 09) – A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official has strongly condemned the actions of a French city mayor for insulting the sacred values and prominent figures of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Majid Nili, Assistant to the Foreign Minister and Director-General for Western Europe at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the incident, emphasizing the need to respect the cultural and religious values of nations.
Nili stated that the use of offensive content targeting officials of the Islamic Republic constitutes a blatant violation of internationally accepted principles and norms, which demand respect for the cultural values of other nations. He described the act as a clear instance of hate speech.
Referring to Iran’s formal protest communicated to France through diplomatic channels, Nili called on the French government to take appropriate measures to prevent the recurrence of such provocative actions.
