WANA (Dec 09) – A delegation from Iran’s Parliament has traveled to Bahrain to participate in the annual meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

 

The Iranian delegation comprises Mohsen Zanganeh, Hojjatoleslam Alireza Salimi, and Abbas Papi-Zadeh. The delegation will also attend the APA Working Group on Core Documents in Manama, Bahrain’s capital.

 

The meeting will focus on reviewing foundational documents and proposed amendments aimed at updating the APA’s statutes, including topics such as voting rights and each member state’s voting weight. Participating countries will also present their proposals for draft resolutions during specialized committee sessions.

 

On the sidelines of the event, the Iranian delegation visited Bahrain’s Consultative Council to familiarize themselves with its legislative processes and operational mechanisms.

 

Abbas Papi-Zadeh, head of the Economic and Sustainable Development Committee of Iran’s APA parliamentary group, also attended a meeting of delegation leaders with Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of Bahrain’s Shura Council.
