WANA (August 15) – Ali Bagheri Kani, the acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, congratulated Pakistan on its Independence Day from British India on August 14 in a message shared in Urdu on his social media account.

In his message, he stated: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of August 14, Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and to all the people of Pakistan.”

August 14 marks the 77th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan. The people of this Muslim neighbor celebrate their Independence Day while the leaders of this eastern neighbor are striving to guide their country and people towards a bright future, free of crises and internal conflicts, to ensure progress and prosperity.

The people of Pakistan celebrated the 77th anniversary of their independence on August 14, just months after the formation of the current government following general elections.

The Prime Minister and the Army Chief of Pakistan also congratulated the nation on this occasion, expressing solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and reaffirming their support for the Palestinian liberation movement.

August 14 is Pakistan’s Independence Day, and August 15 is India’s Independence Day. The Indian subcontinent gained independence from British colonial rule in 1947, leading to the creation of Pakistan for Muslims in the western and eastern regions of India.

Later, in 1971, due to internal conflicts and wars, East Pakistan separated from West Pakistan, now known as Pakistan, and became the independent nation of Bangladesh.
