Iran’s Combat Helicopter in Design Phase; Drone Export Unaffected by Pressure
WANA (Feb 07) – The head of Iran’s Aerospace Industries Organization, under the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, stated that Iranian-made drones have played a crucial role in ensuring security and border protection for many countries.
Brigadier General Amir Khajeh-Fard, speaking about Iran’s drone capabilities, said: “Our armed forces have a well-structured strategic program for utilizing drones in national defense. Decades of scientific and technical work have led to the advancement of our drone capabilities. The sensitivity of our adversaries stems from their direct observation of how these drones perform in operational fields, realizing that they are an integral part of our defense system.”
Drone Exports Continue Despite Restrictions
Addressing Iran’s drone exports, Khajeh-Fard emphasized: “Despite the restrictions imposed on us, many countries seek access to our drone technology. Iranian-made drones have significantly contributed to security and border surveillance worldwide. Although there is immense pressure to limit our drone exports, these efforts have proven ineffective.”
Development of Combat Helicopters Underway
Regarding Iran’s plans to build and equip helicopters for the Army and the IRGC, he stated: “The development of combat helicopters is on our agenda. We have successfully collaborated with the Navy of both the Army and the IRGC to restore and enhance their existing helicopters.”
He concluded by noting that the design phase of Iran’s combat helicopter project is currently underway, and its completion is expected within the next four to five years.
