WANA (August 07) – At the end of the first two weight categories in the Greco-Roman wrestling competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Amin Mirzazadeh, who represented Iran in the 130 kg weight class and is a world gold medalist, faced off against Sabah Shariati, an Azerbaijani wrestler of Iranian descent and an Olympic bronze medalist, in the bronze medal match.

 

Mirzazadeh won decisively with a 4-0 score, securing the Olympic bronze medal and becoming the first medalist for Iran’s sports delegation at the Paris Olympics.

 

Previously, Mirzazadeh won his first match against Adam Coon from the USA by a score of 3-1. However, he lost his second match to Mijaín López, a Cuban wrestler with four Olympic gold medals and five world titles, by a score of 3-1, which placed him in the repechage bracket.

In the repechage round, Mirzazadeh defeated Lee from South Korea with a score of 9-0, allowing him to advance to the bronze medal match.

 

In the second weight category of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition at the Paris Olympics, Mohammad Hadi Saravi, representing Iran in the 97 kg weight class, decisively defeated his opponents to reach the final.

 

On Wednesday, he is set to compete against Artur Aleksanyan, an Armenian wrestler with world and Olympic gold medals, for the Olympic gold medal.
