Iran’s FM: We Are Closely Monitoring Developments in Syria
WANA (Feb 05) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, stated that Tehran is carefully observing the situation in Syria and will shape its policy based on how events unfold.
Speaking after a session with the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s patience regarding the evolving situation in Syria. “We are monitoring developments closely and will determine our approach once the situation takes a clearer shape,” he said.
He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to Syria’s stability, territorial integrity, and opposition to foreign occupation—particularly that of the Israeli regime. “We support the formation of a government that reflects the will of the Syrian people. This has always been our clear and consistent stance,” he added.
Regarding the resumption of political and diplomatic relations with Syria, Araghchi noted that Iran is evaluating its engagement with the current Syrian government and sees no urgency in making a hasty decision.
