WANA (Nov 27) – In continuing bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the World Forum on Civilizations in Portugal, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. The two officials discussed key regional and international developments, including the situations in Gaza and Lebanon.

 

During the meeting, Araghchi underscored Iran’s role in advancing the dialogue between civilizations and cultures, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and cooperation to address global challenges.

He also highlighted the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza and Lebanon, briefing the Secretary-General on his recent communications and consultations with regional countries aimed at halting the genocide and aggression by the Israeli regime in these areas.

 

Secretary-General Guterres expressed deep concern about the ongoing crises in the region and voiced hope that the efforts underway would soon lead to a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
