Iran’s Mission Responds to Fabricated Reports on Alleged Nuclear Site
WANA (May 09) – The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations has responded to a Fox News report regarding an alleged nuclear site, describing it as “fabricated” and “a tactic used by the terrorist group MEK.”
In a statement issued on Thursday local time, Iran’s UN mission said: “The method used by the terrorist group MEK indicates that they present fabricated reports as so-called intelligence findings to Western services, including the United States, in order to gain credibility.”
The statement added: “But when these organizations realize the reports are unreliable, MEK turns to Western media outlets as its next clients to exploit their platforms and push its narrative.”
This fabricated report comes as U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on Thursday that he seeks an agreement with Iran, stating that efforts are underway to engage and cooperate with the country.
The first round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S., hosted by Oman, took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Muscat. Both parties described the talks as constructive and progressive. The second round was held on Saturday, April 19, in Rome, Italy, also hosted by Oman, and the third round took place on Saturday, April 26, back in Oman.
The next round was scheduled for Saturday, May 3, but Iran and Oman announced a change in the date.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, referring to an announcement made by the Omani Foreign Minister, clarified that the postponement was suggested by Oman and that a new date would be announced later.
