WANA (Dec 17) – The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, emphasized that nations’ power is built on science and technology, stating that scientific advancement is crucial for independence and strength.
Speaking at a ceremony honoring the martyrs of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm and the resistance movement on Monday, Eslami said, “A country can preserve its independence and progress only if it achieves development without reliance on others, especially global hegemonic powers. Without modern science and technology, a country will inevitably suffer vulnerabilities.”
Eslami noted that since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has faced persistent sanctions due to its refusal to submit to global powers and its adherence to the principles of independence, freedom, and the Islamic Republic.
“Advanced sciences and technologies in nuclear energy, aerospace, information technology, nanotechnology, and biotechnology are power-generating tools often monopolized by hegemonic systems. Accessing these fields comes with conditions for independent nations, but Iran, whose people have paid a heavy price for independence, cannot accept such terms,” he added.
“Zionists” Have Paralyzed the United Nations
In another part of his speech, Eslami accused “Zionists” of undermining the United Nations. “This criminal group has rendered the UN, once a body advocating for human rights and justice, effectively useless. International organizations that have repeatedly taken positions against the Islamic Republic are now silent in the face of these crimes. What role can they play? Can we still rely on the United Nations and the Security Council?”
Referring to a recent UN General Assembly vote, Eslami pointed out that “167 countries supported the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state, while only the United States and five other countries opposed it. Yet, these few nations continue to dictate the international agenda, disregarding the will of the majority of the world.”
Eslami stressed that the “front of truth and justice,” which has always resisted such powers, has a clear responsibility. “This front will not be silenced; rather, it will persist with even greater determination to hold these criminals accountable.”
Heavy Water Production: A Symbol of Iran’s Technological Progress
Highlighting Iran’s achievements in nuclear technology, Eslami discussed the production of heavy water, describing it as a breakthrough with significant applications. “One major use of heavy water is in analyzing a drop of a newborn’s blood. With kits made from heavy water, we can detect 56 types of metabolic diseases in infants aged three to seven days. This enables doctors and parents to implement proper nutritional plans to prevent disease progression, marking a major advancement in public health.”
Eslami recalled that in the past, certain countries sought to halt heavy water production in Iran, even suggesting the destruction of related facilities. “Today, heavy water is one of our most valuable products, with applications in various industries, including medicine. For instance, a ton of methanol produced using this technology is valued at over $1.2 million, compared to less than $500 for conventional methanol produced in petrochemical plants. This price gap reflects the immense added value of this technology.”
Overcoming Hegemonic Barriers to Economic Growth
Eslami accused dominant powers of attempting to stifle technological advancements in developing nations to preserve their own economic dominance. “By restricting access to advanced technologies, they aim to hinder our economic growth while strengthening their own economies. However, with perseverance and divine support, we will continue along the path of progress, overcome these challenges, and achieve greater success.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of steadfast efforts to build a strong and independent nation capable of competing on the global stage.
Eslami: Iran Fully Cooperates with IAEA – No Obstruction of Monitoring
WANA (Dec 14) – Mohammad Eslami, Vice President of Iran and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has maintained consistent access to Iran’s nuclear activities under the framework of the Safeguards Agreement and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He emphasized that Iran has not and […]
