Iran’s Paralympic Team Ranks 21st with 7 Medals
WANA (Sep 01) – By the end of the third day of the Paris Paralympic Games, Iran’s Paralympic team secured a total of 7 medals—1 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze—placing them 21st in the medal standings.
The first medal of the day was won by Sare Javanmardi in the 10-meter air pistol women’s shooting event.
In archery, Fatemeh Hemmati claimed a silver medal in the women’s compound category after defeating her British opponent 146-143 in the semifinals but losing to a Turkish competitor in the final.
In para-taekwondo, Hamed Haghshenas, competing in the K-44 class over 80kg category, secured a bronze medal despite a severe hand injury, winning 16-14 against a Kazakh opponent in the bronze medal match.
Alireza Bakht, another Iranian taekwondo athlete in the K-44 under 80kg category, also earned a bronze medal by defeating a Serbian competitor in the bronze medal bout.
The Iranian para-taekwondo team, with 5 representatives in this edition of the games, concluded their participation with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
