Iran’s Red Lines in U.S. Negotiations Are Completely Clear
WANA (May 08) – Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, addressed recent regional developments and ongoing indirect negotiations with the United States during a conference, stating that while the outcomes of these talks are unpredictable, Iran’s red lines remain firmly in place.
“Negotiations held on equal footing and free from threats or coercion are rational and dignified,” Ahmadian said. He emphasized that the nature of the talks and their results depend significantly on U.S. behavior and evolving circumstances.
He elaborated further: “Just as direct negotiations under conditions of coercion and threat are irrational and undignified, negotiations held on equal terms and free from threats and imposition are rational and honorable.“
“In this arena, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution transformed the enemy’s threats into conditions of equality and dignity. What changed was the circumstances—not the position of the Islamic Republic,” he added.
He continued: As for the content and outcomes of the talks, the matter is unpredictable; however, our red lines are completely clear and depend on the behavior of the United States and prevailing conditions.”
On regional dynamics, Ahmadian highlighted the strengthened position of the Resistance Front, noting that it has enhanced its capabilities and adapted to the new realities of the region.
“Today, this front stands stronger than ever against the true enemies of the nations,” he declared.
The first round of these indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman, was held on April 12 in Muscat, and the second round of talks took place in Rome on Saturday, April 19, again with Oman as the intermediary.
The third round of talks was also in Oman and took place on Saturday, April 26. The fourth round has been postponed, and a new date for the talks will be announced, according to officials.
