WANA (June 14) – Iran’s representative at the United Nations responded to a question regarding Iran’s assistance to the Houthis (Yemen) in targeting ships in the Red Sea.

“The United States believes that with its military power and political dominance over the United Nations Security Council, it can isolate and defeat the Yemeni resistance. The goal is either to scare Iran into severing its ties with Ansar Allah or to portray Iran as a violator of Security Council resolutions. However, Iran knows how to thwart this U.S. strategy in a way that strengthens Ansar Allah while avoiding being labeled as a violator of resolutions.”

The U.S. and Western countries hold that Tehran is the main supporter of Yemen in its struggle against Saudi Arabia, the West, and particularly Israel. Iran has repeatedly denied this claim, asserting that the Yemenis are now in a position to rely on their own capacities in various sectors to stand against and defend themselves from foreign forces.

The presence of Iranian military advisors in countries such as Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon is undeniable. However, Tehran has stated that this presence is entirely legal and based on the official requests of the established governments of these countries.

Anti-Iranian rhetoric from the U.S. intensified after the Yemenis, in response to Israel’s brutal attacks on Gaza, launched a series of military actions targeting Israel with missiles and drones. More importantly, by obstructing the passage of ships destined for Israel through the Red Sea, they have challenged the dominance of Israel and the West.
