WANA (August 10) – The thirteen and fourteenth day of the Olympics brought three silver medals for Iran’s delegation. However, the most important event of the day was the final match between Hassan Yazdani and Magomed Ramazanov from Bulgaria. Despite a severe shoulder injury, Yazdani faced a 7-1 defeat.

 

On the same day, Mostafa Javadi, Iran’s first weightlifting representative in the 89 kg category, finished fifth.

 

In the 125 kg freestyle wrestling category, Amirhossein Zareh defeated “Taha Akgül” and advanced to the final. He is set to face his old rival “Geno Petriashvili” on Saturday night.

 

But the highlight of the fourteenth day remained the final match between Hassan Yazdani and Magomed Ramazanov. Yazdani, battling a severe shoulder injury, accepted a 7-1 defeat.

 

The last event of the fourteenth day was the 80 kg taekwondo final, where Mehran Barkhordari faced a two-meter-tall Tunisian prodigy and lost 2-0, earning a silver medal.

 

Also on the morning of Friday, August 9th, Nahid Kiani became the runner-up in the final of the -57 kg taekwondo competition, securing a silver medal. She made history by winning the first-ever Olympic silver medal for Iranian women’s sports.
