WANA (Sep 03) –The Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General for Eurasia of Iran, in a meeting with the Russian Ambassador in Tehran, stated that respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and mutual interests of countries is the guarantee of lasting peace and the foundation for regional cooperation in the Caucasus.

 

Both officials exchanged views on the current developments in the Caucasus, reiterating Iran’s stance on supporting peace and stability in the region, promoting regional cooperation, opposing changes to internationally recognized borders, and highlighting the importance of considering all regional countries’ legitimate concerns and interests.

 

The discussion also included talks on leveraging regional capacities to resolve issues, strengthen peace and stability, and implement economic projects that benefit all parties. Additionally, they discussed upcoming meetings within the 3+3 consultation mechanism and the trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan.
