WANA (Oct 18) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement expressing condolences and congratulations on the assassination of Yahya Al-Sinwar, the Head of Hamas’ Political Bureau and a prominent figure in the Palestinian struggle for freedom.

The statement reads as follows:

“Fight, and bequeath glory to your children.”

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and congratulations to the great and resilient people of Palestine, the Islamic Ummah, and all freedom-loving and dignity-seeking people of the world on the martyrdom of Yahya Al-Sinwar, a hero of the Palestinian cause who spent 22 years in the occupiers’ prisons, where he wrote works such as the novel ‘Thorns and Cloves’. Al-Sinwar eventually laid down his life on the battlefield, weapon in hand, while fighting against the occupying forces.

Yahya Al-Sinwar was a branch of the noble tree of resistance against Zionist oppression, dedicating his entire life to the honorable struggle for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their liberation from the yoke of occupation and apartheid.

His name now joins the legendary heroes of the Islamic Ummah, such as Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Abdul Aziz Al-Rantisi, Qasem Soleimani, Ismail Haniyeh, and Hassan Nasrallah, who sacrificed everything to keep the path of resistance alive, to end the occupation, and to achieve the rightful and legitimate right of self-determination and a dignified life.

The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the Zionist regime’s heinous crimes of assassinating Palestinian leaders and intellectuals, as part of its ongoing genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories over the past 13 months. We also remind the world that the suppliers of arms and the political and financial backers of this regime, particularly the United States, are complicit and share responsibility for these atrocities.

The footage of Al-Sinwar’s heroic martyrdom amid the ruins of Gaza – though a loud cry of the suffering and helplessness of an oppressed people under 80 years of brutal occupation – reflects the glory of faith, bravery, sacrifice, and the conscious choice of an honorable death over a life of humiliation.

Undoubtedly, the physical elimination of fighters for dignity and human honor will not weaken the spirit or path of resistance. On the contrary, their honorable deaths reaffirm the righteousness of their cause and will inspire future generations of fighters for dignity and freedom.”
