WANA (Aug 26) – Iranian students are making waves in space technology with their CubeSat projects. As part of a national competition launched last year, they aim to develop three innovative CubeSats with distinct functions.

This initiative, supported by Iran’s Space Agency, involves 53 teams and is fully funded by the agency.

Seyed Mohammad Karbasi, head of the Development of Connectivity and Communications Technologies Headquarters, oversees this effort.

His team, which includes university experts and research institutions, is focused on advancing satellite communication technology.

The inaugural NEXT Award, held last year in Isfahan, also recognized cutting-edge innovations across fields like AI, connectivity, and biotechnology.

Among the winners, two teams excelled in space technology—one in satellite manufacturing and another in cryogenic propulsion for geostationary satellites.

Recent progress includes the Science and Technology Vice-Presidency’s new role in the Supreme Space Council, promising increased support for space tech advancements and knowledge-based companies.
