WANA (Mar 17) – Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed details of a phone conversation between Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on March 17, 2025, regarding Iran’s nuclear program and bilateral relations.

 

According to an official statement from the Ministry, the 30-minute phone call involved “frank discussions” on various issues concerning Iran, including its nuclear program.

 

Takeshi Iwaya expressed deep concern over the current situation and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

 

He stressed the need for Iran to take constructive and tangible steps to advance discussions aimed at peacefully resolving its nuclear issue.

 

The Japanese Foreign Minister also underscored the significance of dialogue and affirmed that Japan would continue its diplomatic efforts toward peace and stability in the region.

 

In turn, Araghchi elaborated on Iran’s positions and actions during the conversation. Both foreign ministers reiterated the importance of continuing multilateral talks between Japan and Iran, including at the ministerial level, with a focus on promoting peace and stability in the region.
