WANA (Sep 08) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, the Islamic Republic of Iran has never been part of this conflict or its continuation and has consistently supported a political solution and bilateral dialogues to end the crisis.

In response to a question about claims of Iranian ballistic missiles being sent to Russia, Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “As repeatedly emphasized, the Islamic Republic of Iran, while opposing war, supports a political solution to resolve the differences between Russia and Ukraine and to bring an end to the military conflict.”

He further stressed that since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis, Iran has never been involved in this conflict or its continuation and has always supported political solutions and bilateral talks to end the crisis.

Kanani added that Iran’s principled and declared stance on the Ukraine crisis remains unchanged, and the repeated claims about the delivery of ballistic missiles to Russia are politically motivated by certain Western countries and are entirely baseless.

He also pointed out that Iran’s conventional military cooperation with the Russian Federation dates back far earlier than the start of the Ukraine war. This cooperation is based on bilateral agreements and in line with international norms and laws, and has no connection to the Ukraine crisis.
