Latest News on Iran’s Talks with JCPOA Members and the US
WANA (Apr 08) – Today and in the coming days, Iran will continue its discussions with key parties involved in the nuclear negotiations. This includes the resumption of indirect talks between Iran and the United States.
According to Iranian and Russian officials, a trilateral expert-level meeting between Iran, China, and Russia will be held today (Tuesday) in Moscow. The meeting will focus on various aspects related to the nuclear issue, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
Previously, the three countries held a deputy-level meeting in late March 2025 (Esfand 1403) in Beijing.
Additionally, the expert-level negotiations between Iran and the three European JCPOA members — the UK, France, and Germany — which were postponed and initially scheduled for Esfand, were eventually held in early Nowruz 1404 (March 2025) in Geneva.
Furthermore, an upcoming meeting at the deputy foreign minister level is planned between Iran and the newly appointed EU foreign policy officials. This will be the first encounter between Iranian representatives and the new European foreign policy team.
Early Tuesday morning, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments about Iran-U.S. dialogue in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Iran and the United States will hold high-level indirect talks on Saturday in Oman. This is both an opportunity and a test. The ball is in America’s court.”

Oman will mediate these talks, just as it previously delivered Iran’s response to Trump’s letter to the U.S.
According to news sources, Araghchi will lead the Iranian delegation in the indirect negotiations in Oman, while the American side will be headed by Steve Witkoff, senior U.S. negotiator and Trump’s special envoy for West Asia. Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi will serve as the mediator.
Notably, Witkoff recently replied to Araghchi’s post on X, where Araghchi reaffirmed that “Iran reiterates it has never and will never seek, produce, or acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances.” Witkoff commented “Great” — a message that was deleted a few minutes later.
