The Russian Foreign Minister, who holds the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, responded to the recent inspiring message from Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s President-elect, to the world.

On Wednesday night, the Russian news outlet Rossiya Segodnya reported that in an open meeting of the UN Security Council, Sergey Lavrov referred to Iran’s presidential election, which led to Pezeshkian’s victory, and stated: “Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent remarks promise improved relations among all Gulf countries and overcoming differences.”

Sergey Lavrov, in a meeting at the Security Council discussing the situation in the Middle East, including Palestine, added: “Following the special election in Iran and the first statements by Pezeshkian, the new president of this country, hopes have been raised for the convergence of all Gulf countries and overcoming conflicts and distrust in the interest of common benefits and without foreign interference.”

The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that Pezeshkian’s recent remarks have led the countries in the region to determine mutual security standards themselves and to jointly pursue the hopes of the Palestinian people and, generally, the creation of a stable and good-neighborly architecture in the region.

The high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council on “The Situation in the Middle East, Including the Palestinian Question” was held on Wednesday with the presence of “Ali Bagheri,” Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
