WANA (July 30) – Masoud Pezeshkian met with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, thanking the high-ranking Cuban delegation for attending his inauguration and expressing gratitude for Cuba’s condolences over President  Ebrahim Raeisi. Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s commitment to strengthening and expanding relations with Cuba in the new era.

 

Pezeshkian praised Cuba’s struggle against imperialism and highlighted the importance of developing relations between independent and freedom-loving countries like Iran and Cuba to counter unilateralism. He also expressed appreciation for Cuba’s positions in international forums, reaffirming Iran’s support for Cuba’s independence and freedom ideals, and pledged continued support.

 

The President commended Cuba’s support for the oppressed people of Palestine and stressed the need for international action to stop Israeli crimes in Gaza.

 

Pezeshkian reiterated the implementation of agreements made during the late President Raeisi’s visit to Cuba, stating that no obstacles could hinder the two countries’ determination to further enhance their relations.

 

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz congratulated Pezeshkian on his presidency and honored the memory of the late President Raeisi. He described Iran-Cuba relations as brotherly, strategic, and exemplary, emphasizing Iran’s influential role in the region. Marrero Cruz noted the shared perspectives of Iran and Cuba on international issues and the effectiveness of their cooperation in countering US sanctions.

 

The Prime Minister highlighted the potential for collaboration in energy, agriculture, transportation, and biotechnology, expressing Cuba’s commitment to implementing bilateral agreements. He also condemned Israeli actions against Gaza and called for greater international efforts to halt these atrocities.
