WANA (July 22) – This morning, Monday, the Iranian Minister of Interior, Ahmad Vahidi, arrived in Baghdad to attend the second regional conference on combating drug trafficking among Iraq’s neighboring countries and to hold discussions with senior Iraqi officials.

 

Upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport, Vahidi was welcomed by Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Iraq’s Minister of Interior.

 

Key focuses of this visit include meetings and discussions with high-ranking Iraqi officials, participation in the regional anti-drug conference, and addressing matters related to the Arbaeen pilgrimage and existing capacities.

 

During his two-day visit, Vahidi will also engage with the ministers of the participating countries to discuss bilateral cooperation in combating drug trafficking in the region.

 

The second regional conference on combating drug trafficking among Iraq’s neighboring countries is being held today, Monday, in Baghdad. The event is attended by ministers and heads of anti-drug police from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon.

 

Preliminary meetings for the conference took place on Saturday and Sunday, involving the heads of police expert delegations from the member countries.
