WANA (May 16) – Iran’s Foreign Minister wrote: There is no scenario in which Iran would forgo its right to enrichment for peaceful purposes—a right that has been hard-won.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated on his X account: Iran has not received any formal proposal from the United States—neither directly nor indirectly.

He continued: Meanwhile, the messages we—and the world—are receiving remain confused and contradictory. Nonetheless, Iran’s position is firm and clear: respect our rights and lift the sanctions, and there will be an agreement.

The Foreign Minister added: Let me be absolutely clear: there is no scenario in which Iran relinquishes its right to peaceful enrichment— a right that has been achieved with great effort, and one enjoyed by all other members of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Araghchi concluded by saying: The great Iranian nation has clearly demonstrated its strength and resilience in the face of those who have sought to impose their domination. We have always welcomed dialogue based on mutual respect, and we will always reject coercion in any form.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Friday, while speaking to reporters aboard a plane returning from Abu Dhabi, that his country had made a formal proposal to Iran as part of indirect talks being mediated by Oman.
