WANA (August 14) – Seventeen months after the capture of Mohammadreza Noori in Iraq, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that “this issue is being pursued in every meeting with Iraqi officials.”

 

“His condition is dire. Part of the right side of his body has become paralyzed in prison,” says Noori’s father.

 

Despite the Director General of Consular Affairs, Alireza Mahmoudi, affirming that Noori’s release is raised in every discussion with Iraqi authorities, 17 months have passed since Abu Abbas’s (Mohammadreza Noori) captivity.

 

Abu Abbas was abducted in April last year by U.S. proxy forces, accused of involvement in the murder of an American citizen in Baghdad.

 

On July 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that Noori’s release is being pursued at various levels and through ongoing contacts and negotiations with Iraqi officials.

 

Noori’s visit to Baghdad was made at the official invitation of the Iraqi government. Despite his innocence being proven in the case of the American citizen’s murder, Iraq has not announced when he will be freed.

 

In a letter to the Iraqi Prime Minister, Noori requested his release, warning that he would go on a hunger strike if his situation does not improve.
