Nuclear Weapons Have No Place in Iran’s Defense Doctrine
WANA (Apr 30) – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council emphasized that “Iran will not forgo its legitimate rights, including the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, and nuclear weapons have no place in Iran’s defense doctrine.”
Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, stated at the BRICS security summit in Brazil that “on the issue of Palestine, we are witnessing the reproduction of a dangerous discourse under the titles of ‘peace through strength’ and ‘coercive diplomacy’.” He said real peace is rooted in justice, mutual respect, dialogue, and the recognition of the legitimate rights of all parties.
He went on to say that “threats from some countries against BRICS and its members reflect deep concerns over the vast potential of BRICS to form a powerful economic, political, and cultural bloc.”
Reiterating that “Iran will not relinquish its legitimate rights, including the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy,” Ahmadian stated: “Nuclear weapons have no place in Iran’s defense doctrine, and this is affirmed by reports from international oversight bodies.”
The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council also referred to proposals from the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying: A BRICS digital currency and a dedicated and secure banking messaging system should be unveiled for intra-group trade as symbols of economic independence.
He also said: The Islamic Republic proposes the establishment of a “Supply Chain Security Committee” with a focus on transport insurance, the creation of a sanctions-resistant corridor, and the launch of a support fund to counter external sanctions.
