WANA ( July 20) – Twenty-three countries have officially announced their bonus amounts for Olympic gold medals in Paris, with Iran’s bonuses surpassing all others.

The Paris 2024 Olympics officially start on Friday, bringing together the world’s top athletes in various sports. The significance of winning medals and achieving glory in these competitions has prompted governments and countries to set bonuses for their athletes.

USA TODAY examined the bonuses offered by different countries. However, two countries, Chinese Taipei and Singapore, which offered the highest bonuses at the Tokyo Olympics, have yet to disclose their bonuses for Paris. Singapore had announced a $1 million bonus for a gold medal in Tokyo, while Chinese Taipei offered $716,000.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia awarded $1 million to a silver medalist from his country in Tokyo, but the bonus for Paris has yet to be announced.

Since these countries have yet to disclose their bonuses for the Paris Olympics, they were not included in the following table.

According to ISNA, the Ministry of Sports in Iran will award 8 billion tomans, and the Olympic Committee will add another 10 billion tomans for a gold medal, totaling 18 billion tomans (approximately $300,000). This amount is higher than the bonuses offered by all other countries in the table.

One of the most exciting bonus programs for the 2024 Olympics comes from Poland, which recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of its first Olympic participation. According to a spokesperson for the Polish Olympic Committee, any athlete who wins a gold medal in Paris will receive $65,000, an investment diamond, and a holiday trip for two worth approximately $25,000.

Additionally, each Polish gold medalist will receive a two-bedroom apartment in Warsaw.

The spokesperson for the Polish Olympic Committee wrote in an email: “The apartments will be handed over to the medalists at the end of 2025 or early 2026, so we cannot estimate their value today.”

Bonuses for U.S. Athletes:

The bonuses for American athletes at the Paris Olympics remain unchanged. Athletes will receive $37,500 for each gold medal, $22,500 for silver, and $15,000 for bronze.

At the Tokyo Olympics, U.S. athletes topped the medal table with 39 golds, 41 silvers, and 33 bronzes and are expected to compete closely with China for the top spot in the medal standings in Paris.
