WANA (Aug 23) – The exhibition “Designs and Patterns: A Journey into Iranian Art” was inaugurated today, on August 23rd, at the Hanoi Museum, with the presence of government officials and Iranian diplomatic delegations residing in Hanoi.

This exhibition, which will be open until September 8th, features a diverse array of valuable Iranian arts and crafts, including hand-woven carpets, textile printing, marquetry, enamelwork, turquoise inlay, glazing, miniature painting, photography, and calligraphy.

At the opening ceremony, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam highlighted the rich culture and the exceptional breadth of Iran’s handicrafts. He stated that the exhibition not only provides a valuable opportunity for visitors to gain insight into Iranian art and crafts but also serves as a bridge to strengthen cultural ties between Iran and Vietnam.

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam also spoke at the ceremony, noting that the beautiful land of Iran, with its ancient civilization and unique culture, holds a special place in the hearts of many Vietnamese people.

He mentioned the legacy of Sasanian merchants who braved stormy waters to bring Iranian products and culture to Vietnam, which still lingers today. The renowned Iranian civilization, with its poetic masterpieces, has gained popularity through lectures at our top universities and continues to be an endless source of inspiration for many Vietnamese writers. Generations of Vietnamese children have grown up enchanted by the tales of “One Thousand and One Nights,” a testament to the timeless traditions, humanity, and mysticism of ancient Iran.

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam added that the shared traditional cultural values, the establishment of current ties, and a forward-looking perspective are the most important foundations for fostering friendship and multilateral cooperation between the two countries over the past 51 years. Given the numerous similarities and complementary advantages, Vietnam and Iran are well-positioned to develop our friendship and cooperation to the benefit of both nations, as well as peace and stability in both regions and around the world.
