WANA (Aug 21) – On the evening of August 30, at 21:48, a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims en route to Iraq was involved in a tragic accident. Regrettably, 28 passengers lost their lives, and 23 others sustained injuries.

 

Malekzade, Head of the crises management department of Yazd Province, stated that the number of passengers on the bus was 51 and continued: This passenger bus was travelling from Pakistanen the eastern border of Iran in Sistan and Baluchistan of Iran to the border of Chazaba in Khuzestan which their bus overturned and caught fire near Dehshir checkpoint in Abarkuh.

 

According to initial investigations by traffic police experts, the primary factors contributing to the tragic accident were technical defects in the brake system and a high inclination of the axle. Following the accident, rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the scene to conduct rescue operations and transport the injured to the nearest medical facilities.

 

Also, Iran’s Supreme Leader’s representative in Yazd province visited the injured pilgrims at Shaheed Beheshti Hospital in Taft.

 

This is the third accident involving Pakistani buses on the roads of southeast Iran in the past week. According to the emergency spokesman of Yazd province, there is a possibility of an increase in the number of dead.
