Palestinian Resistance in Iran

WANA (June 24) – Last week, the Leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Islamic Jihad, Ziad al-Nakhaleh, arrived in Tehran with a high-ranking delegation. He noted that other resistance groups’ officials will also join them in the coming days.

Nakhaleh pointed out that leaders of the Palestinian resistance axis will meet in Tehran to assess the current situation in occupied Palestine and adopt a joint position in their efforts to end the Israeli occupation. The Hamas Movement’s Leader, Ismail Haniyeh, also arrived in Tehran on Tuesday accompanied by his delegation.

During an interview with the Tehran-based al-Alam Arabic language TV News network, the Leader of the Islamic Jihad described the strong presence of resistance leaders in Iran as a “special” development.

“such gatherings highlight the unity of the resistance axis against the Israeli regime; the upcoming meeting will bring about positive repercussions in the region,” he said.

Nakhaleh added that Iran remains the only nation across the globe to advocate for Palestine and the anti-Israeli resistance openly.

He stated, “Iran dares to declare that it supports the Palestinian people and Palestinian resistance. No other country in the world takes such a stance so explicitly”.

He also highlighted the “strong ties between Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and the Islamic Republic.”

Meanwhile, in his meeting with Iran’s president, Ebrahim Raisi, on Tuesday, the Hamas chief noted that their movement had gained advanced power and resistance capabilities. Haniyeh stated that Palestine had become part of the region’s integrated and unified resistance current.

Since its Islamic revolution in 1979, Iran has supported the resistance movements in Palestine against the Israeli regime and its atrocities. However, Iran has always stressed the need for a united Palestinian resistance front, pushing different groups to unite.

Raisi, for his part, noted that today, even those who once supported negotiations with the occupying regime have concluded that it is useless to talk to the Israelis and that resistance is the only way to deal with the regime.

This is while “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Palestinian resistance front always believed that the Zionists and their supporters never remain committed to any agreement, a fact that has become known to the entire world,” Raisi noted.

Iran has been aiding resistance movements in all aspects, never stopping, even when there were rifts between the groups and the Islamic Republic. All Iranian politicians, left and right, have supported the Palestinian cause. You may say it is the “red line” for any government in Iran.

Israel’s deadly bombing campaign on Gaza on May 9, and the Islamic Jihad’s response with the launch of over 1,000 rockets toward the occupied territories, shows the increasing strength of the resistance, which the Islamic Republic backs.

Iran’s Leader congratulated the Islamic Jihad on its triumph against Israel early last month and stressed that the current status of the occupying regime is “much different” compared to 70 years ago.

“Today, the Zionist enemy is in a position of passivity and reaction, and this situation shows that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and resistance groups have correctly identified the path and are following it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Islamic Republic works hard and makes sacrifices for its ideologies, mainly standing up to tyranny. Helping Muslims in need has also been at the top of its agenda, always stressing that the issue of Palestine is the most important in the Islamic world. The Supreme Leader has repeatedly said that The Palestinian nation’s resistance is a source of honor for Islam and Muslims.
