WANA (May 19) – Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, praised the benevolent, committed, and constructive role of the Omani government in hosting indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States. He stated: “We hope that, through the sincere and genuine efforts of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, these discussions will lead to a fair agreement that ensures lasting stability in the region.”

 

Speaking on the sidelines of the Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025, in a meeting with Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, President Pezeshkian commended the high level of bilateral relations and Oman’s meaningful role in facilitating the Iran–U.S. talks. He added: “We are optimistic that the sincere and honest endeavors of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq will result in a just agreement, fostering peace and sustainable stability in the region.”

 

Emphasizing the need for greater unity among Islamic countries, President Pezeshkian noted: “The closer Muslim and brotherly nations become and the more they expand their cooperation, the more the enemies of the Islamic Ummah will be discouraged in their attempts to sow division and discord.”

 

He reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to expand exchanges and cooperation in all fields—commercial, political, economic, scientific, and technological—with Islamic countries, particularly the friendly and brotherly nation of Oman. He added: “My upcoming visit to Oman next week can serve as a turning point in deepening comprehensive relations between our two countries. We hope its outcomes will bring tangible benefits to both nations.”

 

President Pezeshkian also expressed hope that increased collaboration among regional countries would lead to the creation of a region where people live in prosperity, peace, and justice.

 

In the meeting, Badr Albusaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, conveyed warm greetings from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to President Pezeshkian. Referring to the President’s remarks at the Tehran Dialogue Forum, Albusaidi said: “We highly appreciate your wise and valuable statements regarding Iran, its neighbors, the Islamic world, and constructive engagement with the global community. We firmly support this approach and extend our full cooperation.”

 

He further expressed hope for the continued strengthening of bilateral ties, stating: “The exceptional relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman is a clear example of honest, cooperative, and brotherly relations. We hope this serves as an inspiring model for other nations.”

 

Welcoming Dr. Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Oman, the Foreign Minister said: “We eagerly look forward to your presence in Muscat.”

 

Regarding his meeting with the Iranian President, Albusaidi remarked that both sides discussed how dialogue and cooperation could help shape a more balanced future for the region.

 

In a post on social platform X, Foreign Minister Albusaidi wrote: “It was an honor to meet President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran and convey the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.” He continued: “We reaffirmed the deep-rooted relations between Oman and Iran and explored how dialogue and cooperation can help shape a more peaceful and balanced regional future.”
