Pezeshkian: Iranians gave a scathing reply to dissidents by voting
WANA (July 23)– The President-elect, Masoud Pezeshkian, said: “I mentioned in Parliament that there were dissidents abroad who did not want the people to participate in the elections, but the people delivered a blow to these individuals by their presence.”
Masoud Pezeshkian, the President-elect, in a meeting with members of the General Assembly of the Reform Front of Iran on Tuesday afternoon (July 23), referred to the misunderstanding of some individuals regarding his statements in Parliament.
He said: “Yesterday in Parliament, I mentioned that there were dissidents abroad who did not want the people to participate in the elections, but the people, by their presence, delivered a blow to these individuals. Some thought I meant that a blow was delivered to those who did not participate in the elections (inside Iran).
The President-elect emphasized: “By no means did I mean those who did not participate in the elections, and my statements were misunderstood. Those who did not come to the polls are also our people. What I meant was those who opposed people participating in the elections. They did not even want 10% to participate, and 50% of the people did participate.”
