WANA (Sep 25) – In a meeting with the French President, the Iranian President stated that France could play a much more effective role in stopping the crimes of the Israeli regime. He said, “Today, the people of Iran and the region are deeply affected by the crimes of the Zionist regime, and the continuation of these crimes could lead to a situation that spirals out of control.”

During his trip to New York, Masoud Pezeshkian met with French President Emmanuel Macron, where he emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has exercised restraint in response to the Zionist regime to prevent escalating tensions and conflicts in the region. However, the Zionist regime has intensified its crimes in Gaza and has now attacked Lebanon. He added, “How can the crimes of the Zionists be justified, especially when the United States and some Western countries, including France, describe it as legitimate self-defense?”

He further stated, “If today, in any independent country, injustice is done to an individual, human rights claimants would rally global public opinion against it. Yet in Gaza and Lebanon, thousands of innocent people have been killed, and these claimants have remained silent. Western countries must end their double standards because this situation, coupled with mere verbal condemnation, has only emboldened the Zionist regime.”

The President reiterated that France could act much more effectively in stopping the crimes of the Zionist regime, saying, “Today, the people of Iran and the region are deeply affected by the crimes of the Zionist regime, and the continuation of these crimes could lead to a situation that spirals out of control.”

Pezeshkian, in another part of his speech, stated that his government seeks to create unity and consensus within the country and the region and to establish constructive interactions with neighboring countries. He emphasized, “We aim to build a world based on peace and the dignity of all human beings, and on this basis, we are ready for cooperation and interaction with European countries as well.”

He also expressed Iran’s readiness for dialogue on resolving mutual issues, including the nuclear issue, and emphasized, “Iran has never sought and will never seek nuclear weapons. However, we are strengthening our defensive capabilities and conventional deterrence. The current situation in Gaza is a lesson for us and for all countries that, if we are not strong, a criminal regime may attack us in this way. Nonetheless, we are ready for dialogue and interaction to remove obstacles to Iran’s development.”

Emmanuel Macron, in this meeting, also expressed concern about the situation in the region, particularly the Israeli regime’s aggression against Lebanon, and said, “France strongly condemns the aggression against Lebanon and is doing everything in its power to apply pressure and stop this aggression.”
