WANA (July 30)Masoud Pezeshkian reacted to the crimes of the head of the Zionist regime in Gaza during his inauguration ceremony as President, which elicited strong applause from the guests of the resistance front.

Masoud Pezeshkian in his inauguration ceremony in the open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, while welcoming the leaders and representatives of Iran’s friendly countries from around the world and paying tribute to the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, took the podium and swore in accordance with Article 121 of the Constitution. He then stated in his speech that the priority of his government’s foreign policy is to improve and strengthen relations with neighbouring countries.

Pezeshkian continued, “Those who supply weapons to the child-killers of Gaza cannot teach others about humanity and tolerance. No one in the world accepts that the head of a regime fighting with women and children in Gaza and dropping bombs on them should be praised and supported.”

He further added, “It seems that for some claimants of civilization (Death to Israel slogan), basic human rights are measured by skin colour, language, and religion.”

The President asserted, “We desire a world where the proud people of Palestine are freed from occupation, oppression, enslavement, and genocide, and where the dreams of every Palestinian child are not buried under the rubble of their ancestral homes.”

The President’s support for Palestine led to the chants of “Death to America,” “Death to Israel,” and “Hail to Palestine” echoing in the parliament.

Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the potential for unity through the slogan “Long live Palestine” to achieve the shared aspiration of ending the conflict in Palestine, a dream cherished by all free people in the region and the world.

“My administration will pursue national interests and the needs for regional and global peace and security through humility and balance in foreign relations,” Pezeshkian stated.

He further highlighted the importance of appreciating loyal friends from challenging times and strengthening relations with emerging actors in the Global South. “We will strive to solidify friendships and goodwill with our eastern neighbours and the Persian-speaking cultural sphere.”

Pezeshkian called on Western countries to understand the realities and establish relationships based on mutual respect and equal footing. “We are ready to manage tensions through dialogue with governments that have yet to recognize Iran’s status and position.”

He asserted that normalizing Iran’s economic and trade relations with the world is a fundamental right. “I will not rest until the unjust sanctions are lifted,” he declared.

Pezeshkian affirmed that his government would never succumb to bullying, pressure, or double standards. “More than two decades of negotiations should have shown our counterparts that we remain committed to our obligations, but the Iranian people, leadership, and political system do not respond to pressure and excessive demands.”
