WANA (Sep 08) – Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian will embark on his first foreign trip to Iraq on Wednesday. He will hold bilateral meetings with high-ranking Iraqi officials and sign cooperation agreements and security memorandums.

 

Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq, Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad, previously announced that President Pezeshkian’s visit aims to strengthen political, cultural, economic, and security ties between the two nations.

 

Discussions on Iraq’s role in mediating between Iran and regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, are also expected.

 

In addition to official meetings, Pezeshkian will visit religious sites and may travel to Basra and Erbil during his stay.
