WANA (Sep 16) – The President of Iran, in a tweet in Kurdish, expressed his views about his trip to Iraq, stating: “Our main goal is unity, cohesion, and consensus among the entire Islamic community.”

 

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, explained the objectives of his trip to Iraq in a post on his personal account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), writing in Kurdish:

 

“The objectives pursued during the three-day visit to the friendly and neighboring country of Iraq were centered on unity, consensus, and solidarity. During this trip, 14 cooperation agreements were signed between Iran and Iraq.

 

Our immediate priority is to reach a common language and shared vision in the bilateral relations between the two countries. We had fruitful meetings in Iraq that will lead to greater solidarity and consensus between the two nations. Our primary goal is unity, cohesion, and consensus across the entire Islamic community.”

During this visit, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran traveled to Baghdad, Najaf, Karbala, and Kadhimiya, and for the first time, he also visited the Kurdistan Region and Basra.

 

He met with the President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice, officials from the Kurdistan Region, Sulaymaniyah, and Basra, as well as tribal leaders, elites, and also with traders and economic activists.
