WANA (Dec 10) – Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), announced a phone conversation with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasizing that essential discussions with Iran are ongoing.

On Monday night, Grossi shared a message on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Today, I had a phone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister to follow up on our recent meeting in Tehran.”

He added that the crucial discussions between Iran and the IAEA continue.

Last November, the IAEA Director General visited Tehran as part of the technical cooperation framework between the agency and Iran. During this visit, he met with Iran’s Foreign Minister, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization, and the country’s President.

In his remarks during the latest meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, Grossi described his talks with senior Iranian officials as constructive and expressed hope that continued dialogue would help resolve safeguards issues.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, which fully cooperates with the IAEA within the framework of safeguards agreements, has emphasized that the remaining safeguards issues can be resolved through a professional and impartial approach by the agency.
