PKK Iran Section Leader Killed in Northern Iraq
WANA (Sep 07) – This afternoon, Turkey’s official news agency, Anadolu, reported that “Salehe Aqbeik,” the head of the Iran section of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), was recently killed in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, according to Turkish intelligence sources.
Anadolu stated that Aqbeik, also known by her alias “Nojan Amed,” was active within the PKK. According to the report, she was neutralized in the “Penjwin” border area, located between Iraq and Iran.
The report also highlighted that Aqbeik had joined the PKK in 1993 and was in charge of the group’s operations related to Iran.
This comes shortly after reports from Iraqi sources last week of a Turkish drone strike targeting a vehicle in Sulaymaniyah.
Security officials from Iraq’s Kurdistan region informed the media that due to the vehicle being completely engulfed in flames, identifying the individuals targeted in the attack has been impossible.
