WANA (Dec 10) – Darvishi Motavalli, Iran’s Consul General in Guangzhou, took center stage at the 10th-anniversary celebration of the Guangdong Decoration and Construction Union, held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou. In his keynote address, Motavalli introduced the rich history and artistry of Iranian architecture, captivating an audience of renowned designers and architects from southern China and beyond.

 

Motavalli emphasized the timeless elegance of Iranian architecture, highlighting its aesthetic harmony, mathematical precision, and philosophical depth.

 

He showcased iconic elements such as iwans, domes, vaults, Persian gardens, tilework, and windcatchers, explaining their cultural and structural significance.

 

He described Persian gardens as masterpieces of artistic ingenuity, serving as inspirations for poets, painters, and filmmakers. The creative use of tilework and light in Iranian architecture was celebrated as a hallmark of its uniqueness, transforming spaces into intricate symphonies of color, geometry, and order.

Additionally, Motavalli highlighted the balance between ceilings and floors in Iranian design, with ceilings symbolizing the heavens through domes, arches, and concave structures.

 

Persian carpets, he noted, not only enhance spatial beauty but also create a sense of calm and elegance, making them a valuable addition to any interior design.

 

Motavalli proposed fostering partnerships between leading Chinese design firms and Iranian artisans. He suggested incorporating Persian carpet motifs into modern Chinese interiors and called for deeper collaboration in the fields of architecture and décor. He emphasized that Iranian art offers a rich source of inspiration, blending traditional beauty with contemporary innovation.

 

The gathering, marking a decade of the Guangdong Decoration and Construction Union, brought together top architectural design firms from Russia, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and prominent representatives of various consulates.

 

The event served as a platform for global design leaders to exchange ideas and showcase their expertise, with Iran’s architectural legacy taking a prominent place in the spotlight.
