Qatar FM Consults Baqeri Post-Doha Talks
WANA (August 17) – On Friday evening, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held a phone conversation with Ali Bagheri, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran after the ending of the Doha negotiations.
Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri, criticized the United States for its role in supplying weapons to Israel, accusing it of being a partner in crimes against Palestinians rather than a neutral mediator.
Bagheri’s comments came during the phone call with Qatar’s Foreign Minister, where they discussed the ongoing negotiations to stop the violence in Gaza. Both sides emphasized the need for calm and reducing tensions in the region.
Bagheri warned about the deceptive nature of the Israeli government and its main ally, the U.S., during these negotiations. He stressed the importance of using all available resources to pressure Israel into halting its actions in Gaza.
The U.S., Egypt, and Qatar issued a joint statement on the positive atmosphere of the ceasefire talks in Doha, which continued for two days. However, Hamas, absent from these talks, stated that there was no need for new negotiations but rather for implementing previous agreements.
The discussions highlighted the complexities and ongoing challenges in achieving peace and stability in the region, with Qatar reaffirming its commitment to supporting efforts for regional and international security.
