Qatari PM and FM Visited Iran to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues
WANA (Aug 27) – In the first foreign visit to Iran under the newly established government, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and then-Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
The discussions focused on the development and expansion of Tehran-Doha relations across various sectors, as well as shared concerns on regional and international issues, particularly the situation in Palestine and the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
During the meeting between the Iranian President and Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, both sides emphasized enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation. President Pezeshkian praised Qatar’s efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, criticized the violation of human rights, and condemned the global community’s silence on the Israeli regime’s crimes.
He called for greater collaboration among Islamic countries to contain this regime. Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani reiterated the importance of the strategic relations between the two countries and Qatar’s continued efforts towards a ceasefire in Gaza, expressing appreciation for Iran’s constructive role in the region.
In the meeting between the foreign ministers of Iran and Qatar, the two sides discussed expanding bilateral relations and regional and international issues, including developments in Palestine and Israeli crimes in Gaza. Both officials stressed the importance of implementing existing agreements and enhancing cooperation, particularly in economic fields.
Iran welcomed Qatar’s efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and end the conflict. “Iran will support any agreement accepted by our friends in the Palestinian resistance and Hamas,” Araghchi stated. The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also emphasized continuing bilateral cooperation and improving economic relations while providing an update on Qatar’s efforts to halt the war in Gaza.
