WANA (Sep 12) – Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, in response to new U.S. sanctions against Iran and Russia, emphasized that Russia-Iran military-technical cooperation does not violate international laws.

Speaking to reporters, Ryabkov stated that military-technical cooperation between our countries is conducted in a way that does not include elements violating international laws, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, or the domestic laws of our countries.

According to this Russian diplomat, Moscow-Tehran cooperation in this area does not disrupt the regional balance in West Asia.

These remarks by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister came after the U.S. government, based on unfounded claims from its officials and media regarding Iran’s alleged short-range missile transfers to Russia, imposed sanctions on Iran Air, accusing it of transporting weapons to Moscow.
