WANA (Nov 02) – In response to the recent aggressive actions of the Israeli regime, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held a meeting with representatives from all member states and released a statement addressing the situation.

The emergency session, which lasted four hours and was convened at Iran’s request, resulted in a strong condemnation of the Israeli regime’s aggressive actions by the member states.

The member countries expressed deep concern over the region’s escalating tensions, threatening international peace and security. They called for practical measures to stabilize the situation.

During the meeting, Mohammad Rasul Jafari, Iran’s permanent representative to the SCO, attributed the current crisis to the occupation of Palestinian territories and the genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli regime. He particularly highlighted the brutal actions taken by Israel over the past year against civilians in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of approximately 50,000 residents.

In a statement published on the organization’s website, the SCO member states condemned the attack on Iranian military facilities on October 26, 2024 (Aban 5). They also expressed profound concern over the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, which could represent a real threat to international peace, security, and stability.

The member states urged the immediate implementation of effective measures to stabilize the region through political and diplomatic means following recognized principles of international law, including those outlined in the United Nations Charter.
