WANA (Oct 13) – In a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Iraq’s Prime Minister emphasized that his country, in cooperation with international partners and friends, will do everything possible to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is currently visiting Baghdad, met with Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the relations between Iraq and Iran as well as the latest regional and international developments.

Prior to this, Araghchi had met with Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani outlined the current government’s priorities regarding the situation in the region, focusing on stopping the Israeli regime’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon and preventing the occupying regime from escalating the conflict.

He also emphasized supporting all efforts aimed at achieving these goals and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and Lebanon.

Al-Sudani affirmed that Iraq, in cooperation with its international partners, particularly the European Union countries, will exert all efforts to secure a ceasefire.

He also reminded that Iraq’s government has repeatedly warned about the Israeli regime’s plans to expand the war, which has become a clear and hostile objective against the international community.

The Iraqi Prime Minister pointed out that Baghdad’s efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict ultimately serve Iraq’s national security, the security of the entire region, and the stability of its peoples.

On the other hand, Araghchi praised Iraq’s stance in calming the situation and ensuring the provision of humanitarian aid to those affected in Gaza and Lebanon. He stated that his visit aims to enhance coordination and consultations, adding that Iran supports Iraq’s efforts to prevent the escalation of the war.
