WANA (August 06) – Shahin Samadi, Press Secretary of the Tajikistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that the visa waiver policy between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on a recently signed memorandum of understanding, will come into effect next Saturday.

 

Samadi explained that Iranian and Tajik citizens will be able to stay in the destination country for up to 30 days within 90 days from the moment of entry, without the need to obtain a visa.

 

He added that in the initial phase, the visa-free policy will only apply to individuals traveling via the “Dushanbe-Tehran” and “Tehran-Dushanbe” air routes.

 

Earlier, Alireza Haghighian, the Iranian Ambassador, emphasized the importance of the visa waiver agreement for enhancing economic, commercial, and tourism relations between the citizens of both countries.

 

He also highlighted the Tajik Parliament’s readiness to create a legal framework to further expand cooperation.
