Taliban must be accountable for Iran’s water rights
WANA (May 19) – In an interview with local Iranian media, Kazemi Qomi, Ambassador of Iran in Kabul, said, “Taliban officials know that if they want to establish a stable government in Afghanistan, they must have constructive interaction with their neighbors.”
The Iranian government wants the presence of experts in Afghanistan to monitor the water level behind Hirmand Dam. A request that the Taliban still needs to respond to.
The Taliban must adequately understand the policy of interacting with the Afghan people. They think this interaction is due to the weakness of authority in Iran, while such a perception is incorrect. They should not anger the Iranians. The degree of dependence of Afghanistan on Iran in various areas is high. Also, Iran’s influence in Afghanistan is beyond the Taliban’s imagination.
“If it is proven that there is enough water in the dam and they do not give Iran’s water right, the Taliban must be held accountable for their actions. Then the Iran government knows how to act.” Kazemi Qomi said.
